Get to Know Me

I have been in private practice now for three years and have really enjoyed the journey so far.  It feels like such a privilege to be trusted with some of your most private challenges, and it is not something I take lightly.  Your privacy is so important to me and I truly value each and every client who walks through my doors so that you feel your life and secrets are safe.  I was previously a paramedic, and have since left that field in order to dedicate myself completely to counselling and improving my abilities in order to serve my clients.  I have been in the helping field since 2009, and have learned many valuable lessons throughout my careers that have helped me be open to your story and given me the opportunity to listen without judgment.  I believe strongly in my continued education and growth to better serve each and every client.  I have worked primarily on educating myself further on trauma, suicide and emotion-based therapies and tools.  I believe that each client has the ability to heal themselves with the proper guidance – we work together to understand your patterns, and how you can adapt in order to make them work more effectively for you.

Together we work to find solutions that you will actually use, as you are the expert on yourself.  With this in mind we work together to understand all aspects of the situation and who you are in order to tailor new skills specifically for you.   I work with youth (12 and older) and adults, and have been trained in a scientifically proven method to help decrease suicidal ideation called CAMS Care for Suicide.

I specialize in working with people who have experienced trauma, chronic pain, and depression to help build self-confidence.  I feel that it is important to find the right counsellor for you, as we are all unique as well, which is why I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to make sure that you feel comfortable with me.  This creates the foundation for a successful counselling relationship.

I am sorry you are suffering right now, but it is important to acknowledge that you have taken the first step by searching for help.  This is a big and important first step.  Now it is time to take the second step - call or e-mail for your free consultation.
